Itinerary
SWAGATAM
Your guide will meet you at the airport or railway station in Lhasa and transport you to your accommodation. On your way to Lhasa, you can see the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Brahmaputra River, and Lhasa River.
When you reach Lhasa, you can rest and adjust to the high altitude. If you desire to venture outside, head to Potala Square, where you can watch the colourful fountain and take stunning pictures of the surrounding area and the Potala.
Insider advice: It’s important to adjust to the high altitude there. It’s a good idea to have a good night’s sleep in your hotel.
Do not rush when visiting the sights of Lhasa.
Overnight stay at Lhasa.
Your visit today will start at the Potala Palace, the Dalai Lama’s winter residence. The 33rd great ruler of Tibet permitted the use of it since the 7th century. The golden burial stupas of prior Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet are among Potala Palace’s most priceless artefacts.
Following lunch, visitors proceed to the Jokhang temple, which was built in the seventh century by Tibet’s 33rd great ruler. The statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at twelve years old is inside. Pilgrims may be seen kneeling and prostrating in front of the Jokhang Temple. Kora (a religious circuit around a mountain or building) can be done with residents and pilgrims on Barkhor Street, which is close to the temple. You can also go to the old market.
We can also sample Tibetan tea with locals in a tea shop, and the welcome supper will be appropriately planned.
Optional: If time allows, you can accompany your tour guide to a Tibetan traditional medicine or handicrafts centre. You can upgrade your service to include the Tibetan Cultural Show in the evening.
Overnight stay in Lhasa
You will visit Dadong Village, the most picturesque village in Lhasa, in the morning. Dadong Village is a historic Tibetan settlement that is well-protected and encircled by valleys. It is situated 25 kilometres southwest of the centre of Lhasa. Upon arrival, you will explore the Nyimatang Monastery (constructed in the 11th century), take a leisurely stroll through the village, and discover Lhasa’s rural culture. Moreover, you will go to a Tibetan household in the area and enjoy lunch with them. You will go to Sera Monastery, one of Tibet’s “big three” Gelug monasteries, in the afternoon. The Monks debate, which happens from 3 to 5 pm, is a popular attraction.
You can also take a tour of the Tibetan sacred text printing facility. The vibrant Buddha Rock Painting, as well as three sand Mandalas, can be found within the monastery.
Overnight stay in Lhasa
Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse in the morning.
The Lake Yamdrok-Tso (4400m) can be seen when you travel through the Gampala pass (4790 m), which is on the route.
